John Fitzsimmons treated orthopedic injuries as a Physical Therapist for 15 years, including four years in an Occupational Health Clinic. He began to do ergonomics in 1996 to better serve the clients he treated. His intent was to prevent the injuries he previously treated for fifteen years as an orthopedic physical therapist.
His current research on sitting biomechanics includes measuring leg strength to find the best chair postures.

-Sustain neutral spine posture during seated work tasks
-Measure how different seated work tasks can change spine posture
